Leadership Pike Program Now Debuting April 8th 2005

The newly created Leadership Pike program is a comprehensive leadership development program open to anyone living or working in Pike County. The program offers businesses and community members the opportunity to develop and sharpen leadership skills, a chance to network with future leaders, and to learn about Pike County's assets as well as introducing participants to the major issues 'and challenges facing the county .This program is a collaborative effort between the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, Delaware Valley School District, East Stroudsburg University, Northampton Community College and the Penn State University Cooperative Extension.

The original start date in September needed to be rescheduled to April 8th 2005. "While we were disappointed that we had to delay the start date", explained Dave Wilson of the Pike County Chamber, "we're very excited about the program that we have designed. The committee spent so much more time than anticipated making sure that we had a first-rate curriculum and faculty that we ran out of time to promote it! More time was needed to fill the class and find scholarship dollars for non-profit organizations to participate."

The program classes will meet the second Friday of each month from April through November .For more information on Leadership Pike and scholarship donations, or to obtain applications, please contact the Penn State Cooperative Extension at 570-296-3400 or visit the web site at http://pikeextension.psu.edu/Programs.html.
